Their Conversation

Yesterday around 5pm, Bb-G complained she was hungry. So I made her a plate of noodle and scramble egg.  Papa-M requested some food too, so I cooked a bowl of tomyam flavour instant noodle for him. Both of them ate at the dining table, while I was sitting at the couch enjoying my TV show.

While my eyes were at the TV, my ears heard both father and daughter talking ....

Bb-G: Pa, why you never wear a dress?
Papa-M: I am a man, man never wear dress
Bb-G: Oooo....only girl wear dress arr...
Papa-M: Yes...
Bb-G: Only woman wear dress, girl and woman wear dress
Papa-M : Yes
Bb-G: Papa, why you never wear panties and dress?
Papa-M: Men don't wear panties and dress....
Bb-G: OOoooo..... man no need to wear panties and dress, only girl arrr...
Papa-M : Yes..
Bb-G: Papa, why you open the water bottle cap, and turn turn turn , and then drink water
Papa-M: Eh, why you talk non stop ar ? Eat your noodle lar
Bb-G: Oooo ........ (hold on for 2 seconds), papa, why you eat the noodle got soup wan ar?
Papa-M: eh when you eat, you don talk..
Bb-G: OOoo.....(hold on for 2 seconds)...papa, you see I am eating egg...
Papa-M: eh eat your food, when you eat , you keep quiet, cannot talk, later get choke

Ha Ha Ha!
Bb-G: mummy, take my photo like tat, I wan to stick my fingers like papa....
Bb-G, 3 years 4 months, 29 days - very talkative now!

Sandwich

Yesterday, a Monday,  a public holiday, I was lazy to cook. (Had been cooking during Sat & Sun)

So I made sandwiches for Bb-G and myself for lunch. Bb-G's version was a simple one. 2 pieces of white bread with a slice of cheddar cheese. A cup of ribena (her request).

For myself - I made this
Base layer - One omelette + tomato slices + carrot slices

Top layer - Bak Kua (organic pork somemore, given by bro-in-law)

Teh Tark

Now I can easily make my own teh tarik and enjoy anytime at home with Chek Hup

My complete lunch, yum yum yum

Oxygen

Last week, one of my colleagues who is in the FMCG department gave me a bottle sample of "powder", she asked me to help her to do some test at home. I agreed.

Yesterday was a public holiday. I remember the powder and hence, did some small test in my kitchen.

I took out a big pail, add in some amount of hot water, then threw in 2 scoops of the powder.

My test tools
1) My favourite ceramic knife - I use it everyday, but it is difficult to get rid of the stain (from cutting carrots & oranges especially)

2) My favourite peeler - I use it to peel off carrot/pumpkin skin. The stains remain despite many washes/soak in lemon juice

3) Bb-G's milk bottle drying rack - The stain from the water remain at the bottom part of the rack

I put both tools into the pail of mixture I prepared earlier. Soaked them for few hours.

End results

1) My clean ceramic knife

2) My clean ceramic peeler

3) Bb-G's drying rack

Cleaning kitchen utensils  will be effortless for me now, NO MORE SCRUBBING!!
All thanks to the Oxygen Peel-Off Technology from the powder.

So colleague , you can launch your product now.....
My product testimonial = POSITIVE

Hospital

Wednesday, 9/1/13
Bb-G had a mild cough, and then started to sneeze. Brought her to the clinic, then fetch her to nanny’s house. I went to work. Called and informed the school principal, Bb-G would be absent for 2 days. Fetched her home after work. Nanny told me she vomited. Could be caused by the cough and phlegm. Once she coughed too hardly, she threw up.

I slept with her at night .She coughed non-stop to push out her phlegm. Ended up, she vomited again and again for few times, till I gave her a warm manuka honey drink. It was 5am then. Her cough stopped immediately and she slept till the next morning.

Thursday, 10/1/13
I took leave from work to take care of her at home. Bb-G was still coughing, fed her medicines. Vomited twice when she coughed. She said her throat was itchy. The phlegm, must be. Cough was better at night. At least she could sleep.

Friday, 11/1/13
Didn’t send her to school, thinking she had not fully recovered. Sent her to nanny’s place, and off to work. Picked her up from nanny in the evening. Nanny said Bb-G’s appetite was not good. And she looked tired, due to drowsy medicines. Back at home, she complaint stomachache. Diarrhea twice. I fed her medicine for her upset tummy. She was ok. Coughed a bit at night, but managed to sleep.

 Saturday, 12/1/13
Made her lunch, I cooked plain rice and soup. She ate quite little. After lunch, while I was taking shower, she rested on the couch. When I came out from the bathroom, I saw her lying, looking very sleepy.
I asked if she wanted to sleep in her room, she nodded. I carried her up, and YUUUUUEEEEEEKKKKKKK!!!! She vomited onto my body. I was stoned!

With both of us at a very messy state, I slowly dragged myself and her to the bathroom. I took a quick shower for the second time, and then cleaned up Bb-G. We changed into clean clothes. She was back to the norm, as active as a mouse after she vomited. I think she felt “lega”.

Something must have gone wrong, she should not cough and vomit at the same time for so many days. I called to her pediatrician immediately. Bad luck, doctor worked half day. Called Papa-M who was in the office. Told him to come back early, need him to bring us to search for a kids’ specialist.

While waiting for Papa-M, Bb-G was still active, even asked for rice . Hungry maybe. After food, about one hour, she had diarrhea, and twice. Papa-M reached home. We went to search around the neighbourhood for a pediatrician who may open full day on Saturday. Luck was with us, we found one. I told doctor what happened for the past few days.

Me: Doc, she never cough and vomit like this before. Is she allergy to the medicine given by the clinic? (I brought along the medi to let him see)

Doc checked …checked….and came out with a conclusion

Doc: Your daughter has two cases here. One cough, another one, upset tummy. It has nothing to do with the medicine. I suspect infection. The best way to treat her is to drip. Stop feeding her food and water. Let her system clear. (and he was giving some lecture and explanation on the colon, infection…etc…etc…. while showing the diagram of a colon)

Me: Huh drip? Which means stay in the hospital? (I was too shocked and surprised, never expect it to be so serious)

Papa-M: No other alternative?

Doc: The best way is drip, if don want, I can still prescribe medicine, and she will go on vomit and diarrhea. I am telling you the best way to treat her now…

Me: So, need to drip for how many days, if today drip, then tomorrow she will be ok?

Doc: Oh…you have to give me 3 days for the treatment. She has to stay in the hospital for 3 days, no food, no water..

Papa-M and me looked at each other… we bisik bisik bisik…. And agreed to send her to the hospital. Bb-G was then brought to another room with a bed.

Doctor wanted to draw out some blood to do some lab test. He inserted the needle into Bb-G’s right hand. She cried loudly. I was very “kek sim” when I saw she cried. Due to dehydration, no blood came out, and he inserted another needle to her left hand, she yelled for the second time. And I “kek sim” for the second time too…. 2 tubes of blood was taken out. Doctor gave a letter to us, we need to bring the letter and the blood to the hospital immediately,
reason 1 – to get the lab report asap,
reason 2, let Bb-G admit to a ward and start her with the saline drip and she must get the nebulizer to treat her cough.

The doctor would go to the hospital once he closed his clinic. We followed what was instructed. Bb-G was admitted to the isolated room, under the doctor’s instruction. This was to ensure Bb-G’s unknown germs would not spread to other patients before the test report came out.

By 11pm , doctor came with the lab report. Bacteria was found in Bb-G intestines which caused her vomit and diarrhea. I stayed overnight in the hospital, while Papa-M went back home and packed  clothes and toiletries for us.

Sunday,13/1/13
Doctor came to the ward for morning check. He had a new report with him.

Doc: I have another news for you. The report just came out. Your daughter has mycoplasma infection. This mycoplasma is a germ between bacteria and virus. It leads to pneumonia. You can search more info about mycoplasma from the internet. We need to start her with antibiotics now. So, like what I said earlier, she has two cases, infection at the tummy, and infection at the lungs.

Therefore, besides a 4 hourly nebulizer, she was given antibiotic injection through the tube into her hand, and 2 more types of antibiotics given orally. Some other medications included cough medi, phlegm medi, flu medi, anti diarrhea medi……. Gosh, so many medicines!!! She was on drip, so no food and water allowed.

When the hospital served me lunch, she looked at me while I was eating. She was so kesian , see only but cannot eat… While I was eating this….

Bb-G: Mummy, nice or not your chicken?

Me: Ok lor..

Bb-G: you must finish the food ar… eat the rice, finish the rice ok, the rice is healthy for you…

Me: Ok, ok…

Bb-G: eat the vegetable ar…. these are healthy food you know…

Hahaha …..

Monday, 14/1/13
Normal hospital routine - medicines, nebulizer, drip. She was still having diarhea. Life was pretty slow and dull  in the hospital. Luckily Nanny bought her some sticker books and colouring books, at least Bb-G could have some activities to do....

Tuesday, 15/1/13
My parents came to visit. Bb-G's tummy condition was stablised. Doctor stop giving her drip. She was given food, only plain porridge and soy milk. After so many days "PUASA", she finished a big bowl of porrigde !

Mom helped me to jaga Bb-G, she even played with her.
Mom the patient, Bb-G the doctor, so funnnnyyyyyy

Besides taking medicines to cure her lungs, Bb-G was sent to do physiotherapy, to force out her thick phlegm, either through mouth (spit) or through intestines.
Since Bb-G could not spit out the phlegm, the slimy and slippery liquid did come out when she poo poo.... It was so amazing, first time I know about this medical theory....

Wednesday, 16/1/13
My parents-in-law came to visit. With my mom and MIL around, Bb-G was not bored at all. Bb-G appetite was good, she ate non-stop. I felt so glad.

Routine as usual, nebulizer, medicines, physiotherapy.

Thursday, 17/1/13
Doctor checked Bb-G in the morning. Everything was fine. She can be discharged today! Hoorah!!

Friday - Sunday, 18/1/13 - 20/1/13,
Bb-G stayed at home to recuperate further. My MIL and mom cooked and took care of her. Thank you so much for the help given during these days !

Bb-G, May you be blessed with good health, stay healthy and happy always!

Josh Lee

Today I want to write something about a friend of mine. This friend, a guy, has played different roles in my life. First, he was my colleague in my first company where I worked after I graduated. When we were colleagues, both of us worked in the lab together, he helped me to blend some essential oils into my skincare formulation, sometimes he wrote the formulation, and I do the sales.
Next, he left the company. And few months later, I left too. He then became my housemate. We shared the same roof for almost more than a year. Soon, he bought his own house and moved. By that time, I was about to marry to my husband.
Even when we were not staying together, he did come over my house to play mahjong.
Soon after some years, I met him again, in this company I am working now. He became my colleague again. During our second phase being colleagues, he fetched me to work every morning when I was pregnant with Bb-G. Not long before I gave birth, he left the company and started his new job at another place.
This is Joshua and me , we were "pah toh-ing" in Hong Kong years back (hehehe, Papa-M, you jealous ka?)
Joshua, me and our ex-boss from the very previous company. Taken in HK during our company trip.
Few weeks ago, when I was face-booking, I saw he had actually launched his own brand of perfume. Was so surprised and happy for him, as I know it has been his dream to have his perfume named after him. His dream had come true. Congratulations, Joshua, the perfume master!
I took part in his FB contest. And I won a bottle of his perfume. I received the gift on Monday morning when I reached the office. I quickly opened the packaging and mist it on my body. I loved the fragrance instantly! It was refreshing, citrusy at the top note, gradually a genuine green tea scent left on my skin for hours. First time I experience green tea perfume.
I showed the perfume to the people around me, these are the feedback:
Colg-S: This perfume really very Joshua Lee
Colg-W : Hmm…not bad, smell like sabun , you know those Colgate Palmolive shower gel??…. (hahahaha)… eh, but then very nice smell, after a while the green tea came out…hmmm…nice, very refreshing…
My sister : Wah I like the bottle cap, very nice… Perfume very nice smell
Sister’s friends : Wah…. nice smell….
Papa-M: Wah…not bad ar, Joshua Lee. Ok good smell. Eh tell Joshua to send one more bottle for me lar. Tel him to give me cheap price, I can help him to sell. I have so many friends I can sell to…
Hahahaah! Joshua, if you are reading this, are you satisfied with all these feedback ??

3113

3113, nice number or not? Yeh , that is my birthday this year - 3rd Jan 2013.
During the lunch break, a very close colleague drove me to Mid Valley, she bought me a Japanese lunch, then followed by a nice dessert.
My salmon don
My birthday cake - pavlova. Watched a few times from the TV how a pavlova was made but had never tried before. I like the crispy but yet soft texure of this dessert.
At night, initially Papa-M and me planned to go for a dinner in Tony Roma's, since I 've got a birthday voucher from the restaurant. But then we changed our mind and had a mini celebration at home. We did steamboat & bbq. Since it is a working day, I bought all the ready to cook ingredients from a grocery shop nearby the house.
Pork - one pack marinated, one pack was the sukiyaki (non marinated)
Taiwan sausages (spicy flavour) and cheese sausage
Eggs. I love to eat century egg!
Some varieties of "balls" and a small portion of shell seafood to make the steamboat broth
Vegs, mushroom and tofu
Noodles
My birthday cake, courtesy by Papa-M. Green tea flavour, and indeed tasted very GREEN TEA taste!
My daughter manja with me
2 cheeky fellows beside me
The only invited guest - my brother
Happy Birthday to my myself again! I wish all the people around me be happy, be healthy, be lucky, be wealthy! Good luck 2013!!!
