I Don't Know What To Say...

Last weekend my parents came to KL. They came to help my sister to move to her new hostel (sister starts her first year uni this week -Monday). So on Monday 23/5, parents fetched sister to uni too, then back to her hostel and helped her to set up her wardrobe, tidied up her room..etc.. However, my dad didn’t not bring his cheque to help sister pay her uni fees. But luckily all students are given some leadtime to settle their bills.
So after parents settled sister’s hostel, they drove back to hometown on Monday itself. At night (Monday) mom called me, telling me they may plan a trip to KL this Sunday to pass sister the cheque. I suggested to her (and dad), why not we helped sister to settle the bills, then my father can bank in to our accounts. Mom agreed.

Yesterday, Tuesday 24/5, around 5pm in the office, I received a call from my father. Our conversation like this:
Dad: Eh…do you know the account number for sister Uni?
Me: Huh..?? I dono… think sister know, you ask her…
Dad: OK, never mind, I put the the cheque on your dining table, this Saturday you passed to sister.
Me: Huh?? Put cheque on my table??? Huh??
Dad: (laugh) … hahahahah! Surprise!? I am in your house now!
Me: Huh??? !!!!!!
At this time, mom grabbed the phone from my father, she said:
Mom: Eh , I cook rice, and sambal ikan bilis, and braised pork with toufu and egg.. tonite you and Papa-M eat ar… all the food on the dining table, when you back home, heat up the meat then can eat d..I am going back home now..
Me: Huh?????!!! What what what??
Mom: We are in your house. We start our journey at 11am, reached your house at 3pm. Then now, I want to drive back home liao..
Me: Huh???!!!! Serious???
Mom: We come to pass the cheque to sister, so this weekend you remember to give it to her.. bye….
Me: (speechless)

I really don’t know what to say. They went back to hometown on Monday, then drove to KL again on Tuesday, then back to hometown again on the same day.. Is that called PASSION to the children? … or… I …I …really lost of my words….I salute my parents’ spirits! I salute their energy… I ….I can’t find a word to describe their action…
Oh yah… suddenly I know a word to describe – my parents are HONEYMOONING!!!
Yar…. They suka suka honey honey mooooon to KL….then suka suka honey honey mooooooon back to Johor at the same day! What a life!

The food mom prepared for our dinner

Besides food, my house floor was swept, mopped, and the house was very very neat and tidy, all because of mom.

Mango

For the past whole week, I had been eating mango NON STOP. There were too many of the fruits in the fridge(bought by in-law) until I felt so sick and lazy to eat them. Not wanting to waste the sweet mangos, I decided to make something out of them. I didn’t know what to do, until my Seremban friend gave me an idea – to make a cheese cake!
Okie… after picking up Bb-G from Nanny’s place on Friday, instead of going back straight home, I drove to the hypermarket nearby and bought cream cheese and whipped cream. I thought of having butter sponge cake as my cheese cake base, but MNHL said biscuit base taste even nicer. Ok lar… to “obey her instruction”, I also bought a small packet of digestive biscuit.
At night during the weekend , while Bb-G was 100% taken care by Papa-M, I am 100% in the kitchen making the cake.

The overripe mangos. Peeled off the skin ,removed the seed, and pureed. Sweeeeeeet!! I even diced a some mango and added into the puree to give some bites.

Once I saw I had too much of the mango puree, I realized my cream cheese won’t be enough to make a solid cheese cake. If I reduced my cake size and use lesser puree, then, I was not sure what to do with the rest of the unused puree (don’t want to keep it in the fridge for too long too). I began to think and think…. Okie, I twisted my recipe – instead of making a tray of mango cheese cake, I turned it into mango cream cheese pudding.
Hence, I poured in the cream cheese, mango puree, whipped cream into the blender. Blended the mixture until smooth. Then, I combined the mixture with melted gelatin.
Once everything was well mixed, I poured it onto the chilled biscuit base I prepared earlier. Kept it in the fridge. Actually I was not sure if my method and recipe worked, but when I gobbled it the next morning, it indeed tasted like pudding! Smooth and melted in the mouth….Luckily I had the biscuit base to give a crunchy texture, or else too much pudding would cause a disgust.

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover; Never Judge A Food By Its Menu.

Last week, colgs and me went to the mall for market survey. As usual, we would have our lunch , scouting around what to eat. So happened we walked past a Taiwanese Restaurant. It looked good, so we decided to lunch there. Once we entered the restaurant, waitresses provided good services. The ambience was fine too.
Next we were given menus. All the food photos were nicely organized, printed with high resolution, and it indeed made all the food look super delicious.
Wihout hesitation, I ordered this set lunch - pork shoulder something something...

A zoom to my pork shoulder

When the food was served to me, it indeed open up my appetite. But after a few spoonfuls, I begin to dislike the taste. The chefs put too much bay leaves (or basil) into the pork. Maybe Taiwanese enjoy such strong taste of the herbs, but I found it a bit too strong to go with the pork. The side dishes were not good too. My set lunch came with bubble tea, which I didn't enjoy at all.

We did not enjoy our lunch. After finishing our market survey, we went to have some deserts before back to the office. And this time, satisfactory.

BFF

Few days ago Nanny’s daughter aka my friend, SL came over my house for a short visit. She came with her son aka Bb-G BFF – best friend forever…..
One day, I would not feel surprised or shocked if Bb-G and this BFF will “pat toh”

HUGsssssss

On My Own

16/5/2011 marked the day I brought Bb-G out to a shopping mall on my own. Without Papa-M, or without my sister, only Bb-G and myself.
It was a memorable and unforgettable experience. I was on leave from work and felt like bringing Bb-G to the mall nearby the house. Since Papa-M was working on that day, I decided to bring Bb-G out in the morning, and back home by noon time for her nap. Indeed, I reached the mall as early as 10.30am. Out of my expectation, many shops had not opened yet, or halfway opening their shutter gates.
I planned to have a Japanese early brunch, however most of the restaurant would only open at 11.30am. While waiting for the Sakae Sushi to open, I roamed around the mall with Bb-G.
This little girl walked together with me, holding my hand. While she was walking, she waved at the strangers passing by us. When she saw a lion poster ( if not mistaken, it was Narnia) by the Speedy CD outlet, she let go of my hand and ran towards the poster and shouted LION! LION! with very loud and sharp voice. Everybody stared at us….

Then, once we passed by Mc Donald’s , she let go of my hand again, and ran to the MCD clown and said HALO! (again her voice was loud). The strangers nearby looked at me, and looked at her, smiled . After letting her “mingled” with the clown for a few seconds, and also after she bid farewell with the clown, I took Bb-G away and soon we approached Jaya Jusco main door. Bb-G’s eyes were so sharp that she saw 2 rocky chairs for children – a zebra and a cow. Far far away she shouted MOO MOO!!! Again, strangers looked at us. I quickly glanced and scouted around, what Moo Moo was she trying to tell me. Finally I saw the wooden animal rockers by the main entrance. Was selling at RM68 per unit. Bb-G immediately jumped on the Moo Moo, happily rocked herself until she did not want to stop. I had to drag her up, ended up she cried loudly. But her cry stopped immediately when she saw the soft toys section, and this round she shouted BEAR BEAR!! And again, I saw many eyes on us (mostly Jusco workers). Because the whole place was still empty, therefore Bb-G’s voice could be heard clearly.

She played with the soft toys for a while, until my tummy really protested. I was very very hungry before 11.30am. Therefore , I decided to have my meal in Kenny Rogers. We were the earliest and the only customers. I sat at the table near the glass window. Bb-G was facing the window, and whenever there were strangers walking pass us, she would wave and blow kisses……
After the meal, we went to Toys’ r US. Oooohhh! A bit regret to bring her there, she did not want to leave the place. We spent more than half an hour there. I ended up had to carried her out from the shop. She was crying then, but stopped immediately when she saw Barney the dinosaur hanging at the toy kiosk outside Toy’s r US.

I went to Jusco again, and this time, I pulled her in the trolley. Bb-G was a bit tired at that time. Managed to grab some stuffs before I drove back home ,and ,she slept all the way in the car…
Although I was out with Bb-G for only 3 hours, I really enjoyed my time with her. I shall bring her out on my own again….

I bought these from Jusco

Durian. I immediately unpacked the durian and kept in my vacuum container. I always like to keep fruits/food in vacuum container, as they can stay fresher and longer in the fridge.

Some ingredients to cook Bb-G’s porridge.

Prune juice for the family

Wall’s fruit salad ice-cream. My mom suggested me to add some red wine, she said it would be tastier. Shall try.

Addicted

Has been lazy lazy lazy to write blog for the past one week. This is l because I was busy watching a Chinese DVD (China) drama. Very rare I like to watch Chinese drama, normally I will watch Hong Kong/Taiwanese/Singaporean drama. However this drama that I watched talked about the life in the Qing Palace. How the princes/concubines fought each other to gain the emperor’s heart. My mind was on the show for the whole week, and I even brought the DVD to watch during office lunch hour. How addicted I was! Even at night (when Bb-G slept), I was still watching it. And I had them as my companion… red wine and blue cheese…

For The First Time

When I see the Lilypie chart on my blog, Papa-M and me have been married for 3 years and 4 months plus. We tied our knot after 4 years of being together. And it means, we are together for more than 7 years. Throughout these years, Papa-M has one practice - whenever he bought a new mobile phone, the existing one sure handed down to me. However, each time he gave me his used mobile sets, the phones usually came with some problems…(Papa-M never tell me the problem though)

Ist story:

He gave me his used Motorola. I liked it very much, because during that particular “era”, the market trend was having flip type mini phone which the size smaller than a hand palm. That second hand Motorala still looked good and cute. I was ok even though it is a second hand. Even my mother said the ringtones were cute and catchy. After some time, this phone started to go hay wire. I could not dial out.. I told Papa-M about it. He said he will get me a “new” handphone

2nd story:

So the “new” handphone that Papa-M said he wanted to get for me was his used Nokia. Because he bought one of the latest model of Nokia (at that time) , he decided to give me his second hand Nokia. Well, I am not a choosy person, as long as I have a free handphone, I am fine with it. Moreover, the second hand Nokia was a new model too during that time. Then again, the phone also had some problem (and I also dono). I managed to used for some years before it really die off. I told Papa-M again, he said he will give me a “new” phone

3rd story:

Again, the “new” phone he intended to give me is another used phone. This time, an I-phone. I was surprised he would get me an I-phone , no doubt also his second hand, but I still do not mind. As long as I have a phone, I am fine. But for this time, the I-phone "memang cacat" untll I cannot tolerate. Sometimes I cannot dial, sometimes I cannot sms!. I complained to him many many times. I told him, I want to get a real brand new mobile set. He again told me, he will buy one for me. He did bring me to a handphone shop, asked me to choose the model I wanted. But then he said, he would exchange his existing I-phone with my new one.. ARRRHHHGGG! I could not made up my mind in the shop, end of the day, I did not buy a phone.

4th story:

Last week , Papa-M came back home from work. Bb-G and me were in the bedroom “lepak-ing”. He suddenly came into the room and tossed a device to me. It was a handphone! And this time, it is a brand new set!
For the FIRRRSSST time, he finally present me with a new mobile set. Well, Papa-M still "berniat" want to exchange his phone with my new one, but NO WAY man!

Dumpling

This morning I had my mum's bak chang for my breakfast.

I really like the taste of her bak chang. When it comes to 'chang" she is always loyal and being tradition with her recipe. And I like it all the way....

Glutinous rice in dark colour, with chesnut, mushroom, dried shrimps, pork as the fillings.

Pre-Celebration

My sister had just completed her one year Science foundation, and therefore, last weekend my parents came to KL to help her shift her some of stuffs back to hometown.
Since parents were here , I decided to pre-celebrate Mother’s Day one week earlier. Instead of going to have our dinner/meal, I planned to cook for my mother (& father)as well as the whole family.
I told mom not to help me with my cooking. I asked her NOT to “kacau” me. However, being a mother, she still loved to come into my kitchen, look look see see, and then helped with some washing when I was cooking.

I had cooked 6 dishes all by myself. Soup, pork, fish, tofu, prawns and chicken.

Pork fillet with dark soy sauce

Fried butter prawns with oats

Steam chicken with chinese wine and herbs

Homemade egg tofu with broccoli, capsicum and abalone

I forgot to take the photos of my cabbage soup and teow chew steam golden pomfret. sigh....

When I was cooking, Papa-M was not at home. So during the dinner, he thought my mom prepared all the food. I told him these were done by me, he did not believe my words. End up, my dad confirmed all the dishes were cooked by me...... ^_*
