(Side track: Well, initially I had asked Papa-M to go with me, but he said he was busy and tight up with work, he couldn’t spare aaanyyyy free time to bring me for aaanyyyyy holidays. If I were so desperate to bercuti-cuti, I could go with my bro & sis. Okie lor, since he said so, I just carried on with my holiday plan without him. When I told Papa-M I would be away and he had to take care of Bb-G , this old man planned a holiday pulak on his own to Sabah, just few days before my trip! Wah, 我作初一,他作十五 huh )
Anyway.....
Bro was the driver for the entire trip. It was a relaxing vacation with no tight schedules. We managed to go to most of the places we wanted with the help of GPS. Places that we went shall come later. This post is all about food that we had during the trip ...YUMMMM...
We had this for breakfast before we hit the north-south highway.

My Subway sandwich – very healthy to start the day, full of vegs, I can’t even taste the ham & eggs

Lunch in Bukit Mertajam. We took yam rice, complement with braised pork in dark soy sauce and the "kiam chai" soup.
Oh, I love this kiam chai soup very much. The pork balls were super delicious! Sister-in-law said the pork balls were mixed with cuttlefish bits , hence they were flavourful.
We had our dinner for 2 days in Gurney Drive. They were good.....
Char Kueh Tiaw

Fried Oyster, Or-jien
Otak-Otak
Bb-Q Chicken . Very well marinated
Assorted fried food
Fish Ball Noodles. I like the soup, but the fish balls were not nice (too soft). I still prefer the fish balls' springy texture from Singapore hawker centres,
Asam Laksa
We took some sweet desserts at a cafe. Can't remember where but it was located at those pre-war building.
Sesame paste filling (white) & red bean paste filling (pink) tang yuen in warm milk with rose petals. Interesting combination
Sweet Potato tang yuen in gula melaka syrup
Snow fungus in soy bean milk

Before we left to Ipoh, we ate our lunch in Bukit Tambun . Maybe we went to the wrong restaurant, the food did not meet our expectations.
Sizzling hotplate tofu, normal
Stirfy sweet potato leaves, plain
Kong Pou style prawn mantis, not good, basically we were eating flour...
Salted egg yolk crabs , very dissapointing..Too much egg yolks and could not bring out the crab taste
The first food I had in Ipoh, sizzling plate noodles from a foodcourt in a hypermarket. It was raining at night in Ipoh that day, hence we just settled our tummy in a very simple way.
Morning dimsum in Ipoh , in a famous restaurant. Hmmm.. famous for the name, but food so-so only ler..
Meat crystal dumpling with black fungus
Dumpling soup
Water chesnut kuih
Pork and century egg porridge
Fried dumpling
Prawn chee cheong fun
Not sure of the name, but fried type, with meat floss and some meat as filling, top up with mayonaise. Taste ok.
This was another fried dimsum, with custard as the filling.
On the way back to KL, feeling dissatisfied with the seafood we had in Bukit Tambun, we went to Kuala Selangor for another round of seafood lunch. Luckily we made the right decision and went to the right restaurant. Food there were splendid. A fulfilling meal to end our holidays
Fried sotong. Yummy yummy. Outside crunchy, inside tender
Lala fried mihun. Very tasty. When the dish was served, it brought back my childhood memories, my mom used to cook this type of mini lala dishes when I was young.
Butter crab. The chef had added some curry powder into the butter cream. It was so delicious
Fried mantou to dip with the butter cream from the crab. Mantou was crispy and soft at the same time
We actually wanted the salt-baked prawn mantis, but this restaurant used another method in their cooking - deep fried with salt. It has actually ruined the freshness of the prawn. Taste was ok though...

A plate of stirfry lettuce , crunchy
Coconut juice to cool down our body
