Hair Salon

Bb-G is going to celebrate her 1st year birthday next month. Yesterday night Papa-M and me discussed how should we plan for this event. Should we go to a restaurant and eat just like wedding dinner? Shall we opt for buffet or high tea with family members? So end of the day, we decided to hold a party for Bb-G in our condominium multipurpose hall.

We would cater food, most probably nasi bryani with its complimentary dishes such as rendang, curry, mutton, chicken, fried squid..etc.., together with some other Chinese cooking style food. Then, we took out a piece of paper and started to count the relatives and friends we want to invite, and gosh, the figure close to about 80 people!! Our hall cannot squeeze in so many people. Papa-M suggested to separate into 2 parts, which means to have 2 groups of guests within a certain time, but I disagreed because, Bb-G wont' be having 2 cake cutting ceremony. If we cut the cake at the 1st session, then, the second session guests could not join the crowd and vice versa.

So after much brain cracking, we suddenly thought having the party at Papa-M's office seminar hall, which roughly can fit in 70 people. And his admin colg "maybe" can help us to organize and decorate the hall, then this Mummy-J can be lazy and relax, no need to do anything.. hahah. Anyway, I leave this matter for Papa-M to handle.

My job is to make sure that Bb-G wears nice clothings in the morning and get herself involve with this traditional event - "Item Selection" (I simply give it a name, because I don't know how do call it).
When a baby is one year old, on that day the mother would prepare a tray of items , eg., pencil, book, calculater/abacus, ruler, chicken drumstick, celery, spring onions, coins. Then get the baby to take from the tray. If the 1st item taken is a book (for an example) , then this baby may become a scholor in the future, or if the baby takes a calculater, then may become an accountant. I am not sure how accurate it is, and is it by doing so can gauge a baby's future..? Well, I'll just do if for the sake of having some fun.

Anyway, the first thing before the party comes is to make sure Bb-G had her hair cut. Her hair is teribbly messy and long enough to disturb her eyes now. So on Saturday we brought Bb-G to a hair salon, yes, her 1st time in the hair salon.

There wasn't any small baby chair for her to sit, so Papa-M had to carry her on his arms. She was a bit blur when the scissors reached her forehead. Then became restless and keep moving her head. All cuttings done within 10 minutes.
Sometimes I really salute those experienced hair dressers who skilfully know how to handle their super young customers...

Shopping

Shopping in Guilin & Yangshou was a real heaven. Things were cheap, and can even bargain for lower price. Or the seller would ask me to quote, and I told him the cheapest price possible, then he would ask for more, then I say cannot and this went for some minutes, and finally I got all cheap but good stuffs.. haha!
But then, some shop owners were not too friendly and gentle, and reluctant to reduce the selling price. Anyway, it does not matter to me, since there were so many other shops selling the same goods.

After having a child, my shopping mainly focus on those cute stuffs for Bb-G. Bought many things for her mostly from my mother. Everything she saw she said she wanted to buy for her granddaughter. These are all bought from mother.
Red cheongsam pants, yellow sleeveless cheongsam pants, blue and green sexy mandarin suits.




Papa-M bought this pair of shoes from one old grandma who sat by the road side with her small stall selling all her handmade shoes.
The shoes to pair up with the red cheongsam mother bought. I plan to let her wear during her 1st year birthday.

I bought 2 Doraemon for her.. From Mc-Donalds. Never see Doraemon in Malaysia Mc-D though.

As for myself, I got this dress, 100% silk from the silk factory. Recently I was searching for nice dress to be worn during Papa-M's brother's wedding end of the year, Never expect I could get one all the way from China.

Then, the tour guide brought us to one jewellery shop,. managed to get one Ruby ring and necklace of the same stone. The price was not expensive too.

Papa-M bought these tea back for friends.

For himself, he bought a bigger size Osmanthus tea.

Liu San Jie

One night we went to watch a show name Liu San Jie. It is a performance by 600 people utilizing the river as their stage, with moutains and hills as their backdrop. Spotlights mounted by the hills were used with some reflection of the river become the ever-changing natural background.
All the audiences sat at the open air seats. with no shade. And on that day itself, by noon time, there was a short heavy pour, unlike our Malaysian rain which comes with thunder storm. So the tour guide told us that we were very lucky as once it rained in the noon time, it would not rain at night, and we can enjoy our show with some cold breeze. However, before we went up to the bus, there was another pour. Mother was complaining all the way...and keep mumbling " how to watch the show with heavy rain ??!!" . But eventually we still proceed with our plan. When we reached outside the natural theater, it was still drizzling. Each of us was given a disposable rain coat.
As we were queueing up, mother quickly wore her rain coat, and then, the rain stopped. And she felt so hot with the plastic all over her body. I asked her to take it out, but she was too lazy to do so, and told me that maybe it would rain again, so she "standby" first. And yes, she was right, when we were watching the show halfway through, it rained again.... And that was my ever first experience watching an outdoor performance under the rain with a thin blue plastic rain coat. An unforgetable experience though...

Holidays

Back home finally after the China holidays. Was glad to be home, as this trip I don't really enjoy the food in Guilin. Especially the pork which emit out some strong stench. And that is why I only ate vege and rice most of the time, with a little bit of chicken , duck and fish (one or two pieces only during each meal). I never like the fish due to the mud smell, and many tiny bones.
Once we reached KL, Papa-M, parents and me immediately went out for a good meal - BAK KUT TEH. Yum... I still love Malaysian Chinese food!

However the activities planned for us there were very eventful. We visited 2 caves, which made me very impressed with the stalactites and stalagmites. They were formed millions years ago. Very beautiful.




We cruised around the tribe villages with small sampan. During the cruise, we could see different Chinese tribes with different costumes and their respective ways of greeting their guests.



There was another cruise in bigger boat too. And this round we could see mountains with different shapes, eg., sleeping beauty
and a face of a scholar.

One funny thing was three of us (father, Papa-M and me) were excited and climb up to the second deck of the boat, but mother was so scared, she only sat tightly in her comfort zone (I think she was scared of dizziness if moved too much in the boat). Therefore, we have many beautiful photos with the great mountains behind as our scenery, mother only have some trees behind her... ^_^

Tofu

World Cup finally over. Yesterday was the final. And guess what, Papa-M went up all over to Genting Hills just to watch the game. Left Bb-G and me at home.
Anyway, during the weekend I was quite lazy. Lazy to do everything. Usually on Saturdays & Sundays I would prepare nice meal for Bb-G, like cook nice porridge then fry her salmon. But on last Saturday, I just cut the white pomfret into small pieces (without the bone) and dump the fish meat in the porridge and let it cook.
Then on Sunday, I was even lazier. I didn't cook anything for her. I just made her cereal. That's why sometimes instant baby cereal comes very handy during those lazy days.

Last night without Papa-M, I took Bb-G out for dinner, together with siblings. Ahyi-X said she has been eating economy rice everyday during weekdays, therefore she wants to eat something nice. So we went to Sakae Sushi.

My 1st time bringing Bb-G there too, and surprisingly to know that Sakae Sushi provides good service to infants and toddlers. If parents with a real small baby, the restaurant has baby carriers ,so that the parents can enjoy their meal while the little one sleeps inside the carrier. For those babies who can sit well just like Bb-G, we were given a baby chair which can put on top of the adults' seat. Therefore, she could sit in between us. Unlike in Sushi King which uses those common baby high chairs that must be put at the side corner of the table.

Sitting in between us means it is easier for me to feed her some food. She loved the tofu.
