Poon Choy

The next day after Bai Tian Gong, we woke up in the late morning and then prepared to attend a family luncheon gathering. It was a lunch to celebrate Papa-M's cousin brother's granddaughter's full moon. It was held in a Chinese restaurant and we were served plain looking dishes but surprisingly they were really really really good in taste!!

Back home in the late noon and I put Bb-G for a cool 2 hours nap before we need to attend another makan session at night at my friend's house. We were making our first POON CHOY !!

3 families were involved. Each family prepared some dishes and then we "gabung all together"
We had 2 master chefs, and both were men..... ^_^

This man was the master chef for poon choy

This man was the master chef of the wax meat rice and a plate of butter prawns. Yummy yummy

Our process of making this poon choy
First of all, laid the chinese cabbage at the bottom of a "big bowl", followed by fried yams on the second layer, then mushrooms and beancurd sheets at the 3rd layer. 4th layer was the roast duck, white chicken and roast pork. Braised for several hours.
Then,we spreaded the stewed chicken feets, squids, clams and prawns.

Next came the mussels

Finally top up with cauliflowers, brocollies and abalone

Still gotta cooked for few minutes. The "big bowl" was so huge  till we need to cover with towels to preserve the heat in the wok.
Tadaaaaaa .....our first poon choy

The poon choy turned up to be successfully delicious and all of us enjoyed our dinner to the max!
Besides having the sumptuous dinner, we played gin rummy and not forgeting the mahjong too....what a nice way to celebrate CNY
