Food Celebration

Chinese New Year came and went. Time really flies.....

For memory sake, I want to pen down what had I done during this year CNY.

Papa-M, Bb-G and me went back to Papa-M's hometown a day before the new year eve.  We reached home roughly 2pm.  After taking a quick rest, we went out to have our late lunch. Papa-M drove us , including mother-in-law to a restaurant , famous for its curry fish.

The curry was nice, very different taste from the normal curry fish I ate in KL. The gravy was creamy but yet "tak jelak". Fish was very fresh too. While we were waiting for our dishes, a man walked into the restaurant and bought back several packs of frozen curry gravy from the lady boss. I was very interested to get some back to KL too, hence we bought 2 packets home too....

Fried prawn mantis. We ordered the salted egg version, but kamheong style came instead...anyway the taste was good

The chicken tofu dish was for Bb-G

After the heavy late lunch, we went back home. I helped MIL to spring clean the house and did some minor decoration. Slept early that night too.

On the eve day, we had an early reunion dinner at 5pm. Some closer relatives were invited to join us for the dinner. MIL had prepared these for us.

The must have Hokkien dish - jiu hu char, and it is my all time favourite too.

A pot of fish cooked in yam broth

Sambal curry prawns

Soy sauce pork stew with bamboo shoots

Fried fish, to be eaten with MIL's own concoction sweet, sour spicy sauce

Kerabu chicken feet. I made this, and was glad that those who ate liked the taste so much. The mixture of salt, honey, lemon juice was "BALANCE"

After the dinner, we went to Papa-M's youngest aunty's house to eat AGAIN . I ate some dishes , and also tried the varieties of CNY cookies (ya, even before CNY!) Stayed at her place, chit chatting, and by 11.30pm, we drove back to in-law's house.

At 12am, I called my parents back in the south and wished them GONG XI FA CAI!!

Spent CNY 1st and 2nd day in in-law's place. Had a good gathering with the relatives.
On the 3rd day, at 5am, we started our journey back to KL. Very very smooth journey in the morning, and we reached our home sweet home at 10am..

My parents came over to my place on the 3rd day too. We had a Lou Sang cum steamboat cum barbeque dinner at my brother's house.
The Lou Sang

It was all about food when parents were here in KL.

On the 4th day, we visited brother's future inlaws. Besides visiting, parents' purposes was  to talk and discuss about bro's wedding preparation this coming Sept. After their "pre-wedding meeting", we had a sumptuous seafood dinner with bro's inlaws too. The dishes ordered was SUPER MARVELLOUS. We ate at one of their relatives' restaurant, thus the quality  of the dishes was highly assured. Because it involved other relatives from bro's inlaw's side, I "paiseh" to take the food photos.

On the 5th day, which was the Valentine's Day, mom and me cooked lunch at home, we used whatever we had in the fridge to make a simple lunch for the family. We made steam fresh scallop, with ginger and minced garlic. I suggested to bake the some portion of the scallops. I used the double pan and baked them with some mayonnaise. The family members prefered the steam version, bake scallops were slightly drier.

We also made a steam dish with some pork bacon, chinese cabbage, mushroom and dried scallops too. Lay the scallops and mushrooms at the bottom of a bowl, then, arranged the  pork bacon and chinese cabbage. Steamed for one hour.

At night, mom prepare fried mihun and a plate of greens for our dinner.

On the 6th day, we went for shopping. Bro and me belanja my parents Vietnamese food for lunch.

On the 7th day, parents went back to the south...

On the 8th day, Papa-M took me and Bb-G to a newly opened Italian restaurant at our neighbourhood  for a good  lunch. The ambience was peaceful. Food was good too.  The chef was an angmoh, I think (cos can see his pictures from the wall)

Bb-G advertising for the restaurant, ha ha ha....

We were served the house bread. I like to dip the soft saltish bread with the olive oil+balsamic vinegar.

A plate of roast pumpkin salad with peanut sauce as our starter. Peanut sauce was very appetizing.

Mushroom soup for Bb-G

I shared this plate of carbonara bacon spaghetti with Bb-G. Tasted heavenly.

Papa-M ordered this for himself. Pork chop with honey mustard sauce. The pork chop was very well marinated, and very juicy too.

I must order this whenever I have meal in an Italian restaurant. Tiramisu.
SUPERB  is the word I described for this dessert.

On the 9th day at 12am, we pray to the God of Heaven. Our offerings

On the 10th day onwards, back to WORK!
